The Expert Forum: Innovations In Intelligence
“Unfortunately, the environment has tended to be event or crises driven in the past, so another catastrophic event will have the effect of pushing industry and government closer together. I do believe that advances were made after 9/11 in this area, but not enough change has taken place.
As the internet continues to be an even stronger medium for information sharing, the IC and industry must look for ways to manage (without
policing) what role the
internet plays in the defense of our country. I also believe that looking for new and emerging technologies- and making strategic investments in technologies- and making strategic investments in technology development- will give the IC the edge if needs to be successful. Finally, we need forward-thinking entrepreneurs, managers and leaders in the IC. We can no longer solely depend on conventional thinking and technologies to protect us from a threat
that is to a large degree dispersed and not always visible.”
